For the fifth year in a row, communities across the world gathered in June to celebrate World Localization Day. This year’s celebrations were further marked by the release of two powerful films: 'Closer to Home' and 'The Power of Local' produced by Local Futures. World Localization Day, convened by Local Futures, is an annual global campaign celebrating the shift from global dependency toward stronger local economies. Held each year on June 21 and throughout June, it invites us to rethink how we produce, consume, and connect — starting where we live.

Over 80 local events marked this year’s World Localization Day celebrations, organised by individuals and groups across the globe. Potluck dinners, farmers’ markets, film screenings and many other gatherings brought people together to celebrate and raise awareness about the importance of local food, culture and community.
